Glorious Tuscan Food

Yesterday we treated ourselves to a wonderful lunch at the Locanda dell’Amorosa, a 4-star hotel and restaurant, set among the Sienese hills that overlook the Val di Chiana.

Poached egg over steamed asparagus drizzled with a truffle/balsamic vinegar reduction and asparagus cream sauce anyone? Light, fresh, bursting with flavor, and a beautiful visual presentation — quintessentially Tuscan.

Cacky sighed sweetly and whispered, “Home.”

The Amorosa estate is also a place full of intriguing photo ops. Here is some documentation of our culinary and visual adventures.

A scene in the restaurant reminiscent of a Rembrandt painting and the delicious looking wine we didn’t drink in order to avoid a post-lunch coma.

A creative approach for showing the view through one of the restaurant windows and a glowing “brochure” shot.

A detail from the restaurant’s herb garden and a different interpretation of the scene that captivated Frits. It’s always interesting to see differents takes on the same subject matter.

Looks like a lot more wine than food. Enjoy

Would you believe it that only one glass of wine was consumed during this lunch (and I won’t disclose by whom — your secret is safe with me, Stephanie :-)). We just looked at all this wine longingly — otherwise, we wouldn’t have had the energy to keep shooting in the afternoon.

  2. Nancy says:

Amazing photos! Now I REALLY wish that I was there with you.

  3. sally horton says:

Hmmm… if you won’t support wine-drinking at lunch maybe I don’t want to come after all :) The window photo is my favorite this time, but they are all evocative, as Rick Steves would say.

  4. Nici Soria says:

Beautiful! Had dinner not too long ago, but bet I have room for a few more bites and/or a couple more drinks.

  5. Connie Korn says:

No wine? I’m with Stephanie! Moderation does the trick. Love the one out the window.

  6. Karmyn says:

I like the ones of the table and that wonderful stone wall. They’re all great. Looks like so much fun!

The TOSKANA is one of my favourite places in the world! I really would have liked to be there with you–enjoy your wonderful time there! ( Including some glasses of wine!)

  8. Dave Merrill says:

Hmmmm, sounds like a research project; which photos are more creative, before or after imbibing vino for lunch? If you need volunteer subjects……

  9. Mike says:

Wow, why am I not there? Great food and ambiance shots! I’m trying to begin work this morning but this is making it quite difficult indeed.

  10. Trish McCloy says:

The food looks wonderful, but my favorite shot is of the stairs!
